The Commercial tufting division of Al-Sorayai began operation in 1985 with just a few tufting machines making plain heather type light weight polypropylene loop carpet. Since that time, a wide variety of different machines have been added. In 1997-1998 several of the latest computer controlled loop graphic tufting machines and pattern loop scroll machines were added that gave the factory a broad range of styling capabilities.

The company continues to expand to this day with the latest tufting technology to cover both the needs of the Saudi Arabian local market as well as international requirements. For example, in 2000 the company added new tufting machines equipped with servo controlled pattern attachments. These attachments allow for both geometric and random designs to be tufted utilizing multiple pile heights and yarn combinations. This construction was, and still is, ideal for manufacturing patterned carpet to suit the trends of international modern design.

Multicolor, solid color and undyed yarns are supplied by the Jeddah Yarn Factory division of Al-Sorayai to help give the Commercial tufting plant a consistency in product and color that is equal to any carpet of this type produced anywhere in the world. Yarn deliveries are flexible so that this division can produce orders very quickly.

In most western companies, many loop commercial tufting machines yarns are fed to the machine from beams which allows production runs of about 35 finished rolls. The Commercial tufting plant operates all of its machines from creels, which allows for continuous production runs of very large quantities if needed, all within one dyelot.

The factory is also producing many varieties of artificial turf carpet, (commonly known as "grass") which is being shipped to many different parts of the world.
